RTS Staff, Camp Counselors, and Scholars at 2024 Camp Ready

Camp Ready is one of the most exciting times of the year at Ready to Succeed. This career-building summer camp for college-going foster youth took place from June 28-30 at Cal State Northridge.

This year’s event was historic, and it’s all thanks to you!

  • 58 new Scholars attended, the most ever!
  • Music executive Karen Civil joined us in person to kick off the event!
  • Over 20 professionals volunteered to give Scholars a career networking head start

New Scholars got to meet their dedicated career advisors for the first time. By day, they built career skills and prepared for their futures. By night, they enjoyed fun activities and built lifelong friendships.

Thank you for making this incredible experience possible!

Right out of the gate, Scholars were immediately thrown into the world of career building. In the Power of Storytelling workshop, Scholars learned from volunteer professionals about crafting their own work stories, exploring career pathways, and understanding the impact of AI in the workplace.

Scholar DeAndre had this to say about the experience:

“Camp Ready made me feel like I’ve known everybody for years. I felt comfortable. I can’t wait to get started on my career path”.

This event is crucial because it equips Scholars with the tools and confidence they need to succeed. It’s not just about learning; it’s about making connections that last a lifetime. Your support is what makes these transformative journeys possible.

Mission

RTS empowers youth impacted by foster care to graduate college, launch successful careers, and reach their full potential.

Begin to Build a Relationship

We know you care about where your money goes and how it is used. Connect with this organization’s leadership in order to begin to build this important relationship. Your email will be sent directly to this organization’s Director of Development and/or Executive Director.

RTS gives youth who have experienced foster care the promise that every young person deserves: that chance at graduating from college and a future that they choose. More than 80% of kids in foster care want to go to college, and RTS is there for them when they arrive at its doorstep.

Furnishing Dorms, Creating Comfort, and Building Community for Foster Youth

Ready to Succeed’s (RTS) Project Dorm Room began by supporting 75 students and has since equipped over 900 foster youth with the essentials needed for college dorm life.

With more foster youth than they can serve, RTS aims to expand their reach and impact next year:

$225,000 fully sponsors 300 students as they move into their new dorm rooms.

    •    $750 fully outfits one dorm room.

    •    $500 provides sleeping and personal items.

Foster youth have faced immense challenges growing up in the system – now, in college, they deserve the opportunity to thrive. Supporting Project Dorm Room ensures these students aren’t overlooked, giving them the foundation they need to succeed.
