Drug Awareness Foundation Fights for Life-Saving Legislation

The Drug Awareness Foundation just returned from a crucial week on Capitol Hill, advocating for Tyler’s Law, a bill that would require hospitals to test for fentanyl in emergency room drug screenings. Advocating for common sense drug laws is only one part of what Drug Awareness Foundation does. We also speak at schools, businesses and religious institutions to raise awareness about addiction and fentanyl poisoned drugs, as well as putting up billboards and bus ads to get the message to the public.
A Tragic, Preventable Loss
Tyler was 19 when he died. The night before, he was taken to the emergency room and given a standard five-panel drug test, which came back negative. His mother repeatedly asked if fentanyl was included, and doctors assured her it was. They were wrong. Standard opioid tests do not detect fentanyl.

Had Tyler’s fentanyl exposure been identified, he could have been sent to detox or residential treatment instead of a sober living facility—where he died the next day.
Why Drug Awareness Foundation Advocating for Tyler’s Law Matters
✅ Alerts patients so they can avoid fentanyl exposure
✅ Ensures doctors provide naloxone, a life-saving drug
✅ Connects patients to addiction treatment
✅ Helps law enforcement prosecute drug dealers

Fentanyl is a raging danger to our society and many are unaware of the danger it presents in their lives and the lives of those they love. Drug Awareness Foundation’s mission to educate and raise awareness of these dangers is so important to allow people to make choices with full knowledge and ultimately, to save lives. I am proud to support Drug Awareness Foundation’s work.
Fighting Fentanyl: Saving Kids From Drug Overdoses
The Drug Awareness Foundation knows that knowledge is power and when it comes to fentanyl overdoses, knowledge saves lives.
In the upcoming year, your donations will help the Foundation reach their goal of raising $100,000, which will ensure that they can:
•Push for greater access to Naloxone and testing strips in schools and institutions.
•Expand their current public ad campaign and create a second ad campaign specifically for students.
•Meet the cost of their speaking engagements, which are at no cost to their hosts, and pay for their communications.
•Continue to work with community members and lawmakers to pass a federal law, similar to California’s recently instituted Tyler’s Law.
All of which can save countless lives.
