Community Wellness Campaign

Housing Works has always been on the front lines of Los Angeles’ homelessness crisis, doing whatever it takes for as long as it takes to house people struggling with chronic homelessness and health crises. Our dedicated team of 50 frontline workers are a lifeline of compassion, services and support to more than 1,000 currently and formerly unhoused people.
Today, like many in our community, Housing Works finds itself on very different front lines:
- Members of our staff, participants and the board of directors have been directly impacted by the fires that ravaged the Altadena community. We are committed to doing whatever we can to support them even as we are faced with even more people who find themselves unhoused.
- Members of our staff are also on the verge of facing homelessness and food insecurity themselves due to the high costs of living and high-stress environments that goes along with this work every day. Staff wellness is critical to maintaining the high-quality care we provide for our participants, and we believe investing in our team’s mental, emotional, and physical well-being ultimately benefits the entire community as a whole.
In response, Housing works is launching the Community Wellness Campaign, an opportunity for friends committed to social justice to come together to say YES to partner with us to prioritize staff wellness and sustainable career pathways.
We are looking for 200 people to commit to walking beside us to care for our circle of community. We need you, dear friends, to join this campaign with a donation of $50-$100 per month, or more if you are able.
Your monthly donation will directly fund:
- Access to wellness programs, including mental health support and mindfulness resources
- Professional development opportunities to help our staff grow in their roles
- Emergency relief, offering financial aid to employees facing unexpected hardships such as natural disasters, medical emergencies or personal tragedies.
These investments will empower our team to continue providing the care that is essential to the well-being of our participants. Together, we can create a healthier and more sustainable work environment for those who give so much to others. Help Get More of the Unhoused into Permanent Housing
Housing Works has a nationally recognized approach to guiding people off the streets and into permanent housing. They use hope, empowerment, and encouragement plus a resourceful base of proven programs that go beyond housing to include enrichment services that help those they work with maintain that housing.
With lack of housing at dire levels, Housing Works’ goal this coming year is to provide on-site services for 400 more clients and to add two building sites. They also plan to expand their reach by creating a framework to pass on their institutional knowledge and train a new generation of advocates.
All of this requires the support and generosity of the community. Housing Works’ goal is to raise $7 million to increase their reach as they tackle the humanitarian crisis of homelessness in California. Every dollar helps them reach this goal.
